Vacancy: Graduate Urban Design Placement year

Location: Bournemouth

About you:

  • Currently studying towards a BA or BSc which includes Urban Design
  • Strong portfolio displaying strong abilities in all of the following: graphic, design, drawing, sketching and written skills
  • Good hand drawn skills
  • Excellent written and communication skills – we require: GCSE English language minimum Grade 6 or equivalent
  • Strong attention to detail with a methodical approach. 
  • Good time management and organisational skills to complete work to tight deadlines
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently, take the initiative and have a pro-active approach
  • Flexible attitude
  • Be enthusiastic, conscientious, open-minded, resilient, agreeable, balanced with a can-do attitude
  • Ability to manage time, workload and tight deadlines whilst remaining focused, calm and professional.
  • Technology: Some experience in Twin motion, VectorWorks and or AutoCAD, Adobe InDesign and Illustrator, MS365 is desirable
  • Right to work in the UK  the company does not provide a Sponsorship VISA


The role:

Graduates are expected to be conscientious and demonstrate a keenness to learn and to contribute to the urban design/masterplanning team and the wider company. They will be given opportunities to demonstrate their design flair and their aptitude to undertake a range of tasks, including site visits, site analysis, preparation of supporting master plan drawings and inputting into design lead documents.  In addition, they will be expected to start to assist with creative design solutions for a variety of projects.
