Acquired by St George in 2017, the vision for the Northfields location is to transform this former industrial estate and brownfield site into a vibrant community.

The challenge was to reconnect the local communities with the River Brent and the Grand Union Canal. Framed by these bodies of water the vision was to open the space for the benefit of the wider community as well as potential residents, workers and visitors.

tor&co assembled a full planning and design team, working alongside partners to deliver a masterplan that brings the vision to life.

Grand Union is an exemplary development, with half of the site given over to open space and offering over 3000 new residences from affordable apartments to family homes. Leisure and retail spaces, a 500 sqm community centre, nursery, health centre and central piazza make Grand Union a cohesive environment with spaces to work, play, breathe and live life to the full.

More than 650 jobs will be generated by Grand Union and the site proudly plays host to local festivals and events. The scheme continues to be rolled out in phases and is on the way to becoming a much-loved area of North West London.
