The creation of a new town and community, one that would help to regenerate adjoining neighbourhoods and integrate seamlessly into its surroundings, was Oxford City Council’s vision for Barton Park.
Careful analysis of the site and its surroundings resulted in a masterplan for a sustainable urban extension that sought to blend the traditional building forms of Oxford, with those of contemporary architecture.
Although a harmonious extension to the City of Oxford, Barton has its own identity and a real sense of place. It sits within a ten-acre park and the community facilities needed to provide a happy and healthy setting for over 800 homes.
The scheme is an exemplar of sympathetic integration of old and new.
