It’s an incredible privilege being able to bring to life some truly amazing projects for our clients, but my real reward comes from being able to enthuse our younger planners to get under the skin of a business or scheme and to know it inside out – almost as well as the client. The day when I can step back and see them take on roles and responsibilities that they never envisaged having is absolutely amazing!

Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden
How amazing to work with some of the most talented people in the creative industries in an environment where absolutely anything is possible! I am so proud of our team at tor&co which helped – and continues to help – Warner Bros.’ to deliver both a world class visitor attraction and a state-of-the-art film studio. Welcoming over 2 million visitors every year, the Studio Tour is consistently the highest-rated attraction worldwide on TripAdvisor. The studio also plays host to some of the most highly regarded filmmakers and actors in the industry and will soon become the second largest in the world. We have faced many challenges over the last 12 years but the art of the possible has always been at the core of our strategy for success….with a little bit of Harry Potter magic thrown in for good measure.
Mercedes-Benz World
One of my very first projects after joining the practice and what a wonderful way to begin my journey with tor&co. Steeped in the most incredible history of speed, daring and a passion for engineering innovation, Brooklands was the world’s first purpose-built motor racing circuit….and a dream project for me. Working with DaimlerChrysler, we unlocked this hugely constrained site to deliver a planning permission that breathed new life into the degraded and unloved scheduled monument, and which resulted in a flagship building and driving experience circuit for our client. Celebrating the unique automotive and aviation heritage of the early 20th century, the development was also the catalyst for the expansion and evolution of the wonderful Brooklands Museum – star of the popular TV series Secrets of the Transport Museum.
Chewton Glen
Originally a private country house, Chewton Glen first opened as a hotel a few years before I was born. Originally, only two of the bedrooms had their own bathrooms but today, the 72 guestrooms and suites are the first word in luxury at this quintessentially English hotel. Having worked with both the previous and the current owners, we have seen the Hotel continually develop and evolve, winning countless national and international awards and accolades including the “Best Country House Hotel in the World”. The treehouse suites are an exhilarating addition to the hotel’s accommodation, literally sitting between the branches of ancient oaks, with views across a secluded valley filled with nature. The hotel has a captivating past, but an exciting future lies ahead and one which I am thrilled to be part of.
